A description of the Scottish settlement in what is now Panama, written to secure English support and counter Spanish claims to the territory. The colony collapsed later that year due to disease and a Spanish siege; two thousand settlers perished. Authorship is variously ascribed to Archibald Foyer, George Ridpath, or John Hamilton, Baron Belhaven; the dedication is signed "Philo Caledon."
